Send at least a final:
hey, this rss link is gonna break after this message and at least let a fellow know.
The point of an rss link is to not have to visit your site to let them know something.
Kinda like killing the paper-boy around the corner from the delivery point.
Might be that you don't actually care about communications with your customers, and are just providing an rss link to be trendy.
Of course it might just be pure lazyness of the medium as well.
