Ring of trust. I hope.

Neural networks -
big pile of data. Big pile of processors. Big network working, but no ring of trust.
You need to have a ring of trust that expands out to trust but verify with your ring line of trust to validate the returned results.].

It is similar to the Linux Kernel development. Organically, you have some level of knowledge, and you share with others.
You get to know others by cooperation with them.
You begin to know what they know by association.
You trust the data-set more or less by association, but trust less by the links you can handle.
But, you can verify via the trusted endpoints (as they can trust the links they have below them.)

But, computers will probably win at this game some time in the future.
I fear this, but I trust this fact, people will endeavor keep things in check, and hopefully evolve.
