Is your server deserving of a brand new monitor just to run the latest Ubuntu Server version?
I say, heck no.
vi /etc/default/grub GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="nomodeset" and uncomment: GRUB_TERMINAL=console update-grub reboot.... swear, and go in to the bios to allow the reboot to happen (on loss of power = power off = bad).
