Is your adaptec raid going offline under a 2.6 kernel?

Adaptec gives some pointers:

(hint: up the timeout on the sys filesystem for your device: echo 45 > /sys/block/sdc/device/timeout ) as the default in the kernel is 30 seconds for pre 2.6.xx (not sure where xx is exactly) and the adaptec default of 35 seconds is longer than the kernel will wait!

Have an older Adaptec raid card and trying to check status (etc...)?: - don't bother with the outdated 3dm2 utils from lsi.
Try the Debian package - dpt-i2o-raidutils
Then run raidutil -L all
